 In a thrilling Saudi Pro League match on September 20, 2024, Al-Ettifaq beat Al-Nassr 2-1, a dramatic comeback for Steven Gerrard's side. Al-Nassr took an early lead with a goal from Sadio Mane in the fourth minute. Al-Nassr controlled most of the match but were unable to maintain their lead. 

Al-Ettifaq equalized and then took the lead in the second half with a winning goal from Moussa Dembele. Al-Ettifaq goalkeeper Paulo Victor made a crucial save late in the game and denied Al-Nassr a late equaliser with a brave shot in the 90th minute. Despite 14 minutes of added time, Al Ettifaq managed to secure the victory, Gerrard's first win as Al Ettifaq manager. 

The match was characterised by exciting moments, with Al Nasr unable to find a way through Al Ettifaq's resolute defence and Sadio Mane's cancelled goal in the dying seconds of the match adding to the drama.
